IBM has offered details of what stands out is the world’s fastest processor, which features 5.2 GHz clock speed according to the manufacturer claims, Intel should not be worried, since the adoption for bulk marketing is not yet scheduled.
The Z196 announced by IBM at the Hot Chip conference, it is designed to be integrated into the Mainframe system configurations. The processor design is CISC with elements RISC based on PD SOI manufacturing process of 45 nm. Another set of specifications are 64 Gb L1 cache memory, and 1.5 MB of L2 cache per processor core, which is shared with 24 MB of L3 cache type eDRAM.
IBM also highlights the incorporation of a pair of cryptographic co-processors, which allow the Z196 hardware encryption and decryption operations without overloading the functions of the main centers.
The processors are designed as Multi-Chip Modules (MCM) with storage control chip, which enables communication between modules. Thus, it is possible to interconnect up to six processors Z196, Which will enable a total of 24 processor cores. Each processor core draws estimated load consumption in 1.8 KW.
The chip uses 1079 different instructions, 75 of which can be used by milicode, with 219 executable by milicode. Another 24 additional instructions are conditionally executed by milicode. To clarify, milicode is an internal term used for the IBM instructions, which would mean the same as microcode, most common for other chipmakers, such as Intel and AMD. The chip can used commented instructions, with 340 numbers outside the processor mode and known as RISC.

NetGear has unveiled its new PLC adapters that allow Ethernet connections, through the mains, at speeds up to 500 Mbps, multiplying 2.5 times the normal speed of 200 Mbps.
NetGear has expanded its range of Powerline adapters with two new devices that increase the speed to reach 500 Mbps.
The XAVB5001 and XAVB5501 are possible to extend the coverage of Wi-Fi n-type without sacrificing performance, and are suitable for simultaneous downloads, VoIP applications, music and games online.
As usual in Powerline adapters, the installation is easy and without having to configure anything. Simply press the WPS button to establish a secure connection between the PLC and the system. The XAVB5501 and XAVB5001 are compatible with all certified devices Home Plug AV and meet the global standard IEEE1901, which guarantees that it will be compatible with future standards.
The Model 5501 has a socket to not block the plug in which is placed, while the 5001 does not. Both cases have a sleep mode to reduce power consumption.
