3 TB + Unlock
Gigabyte has launched the 3 TB + Unlock utility for their motherboards, allowing hard drives to use more than 3 TB in computers with 32-bit operating systems.
Gigabyte announced the availability of a new software tool 3 TB + Unlock, Which allows the use of units hard drives Large capacity exceeding 3 TB in system 32-bit Windows.
Hard disks with higher capacity to 2.2 TB, need a 64-bit operating system, and the use of other subsystems that support the standard LBA feature accessible through the BIOS of the motherboard of every computer.
The utility developed by Gigabyte, allows users to create virtual drives that can exceed 2 TB maximum storage of 32-bit systems, such as Windows XP. Virtual disks are limited to 2,048 GB, and the user can create up to 128 partitions. 3 TB + Unlock partition type supports GPT (GUID Partition Tablet) and MBR (Master Boot Record), however, with the latter the maximum number of partitions is reduced to 8.
3TB+ Unlock tool is compatible with motherboards based on Intel chipsets recent X58, P67 and H67, as well as the AMD 800 Series. Gigabyte offers a listing their models that are compatible.
To use the utility called 3 TB + Unlock, Preinstall driver needs to be installed first, then run 3 TB + Unlock utility.
Gigabyte provides a complete list of motherboards that are compatible with the new tool. However, the company emphasizes that it is working to extend it to other chipsets from previous generations, to provide an additional service to all users of its plates.
