Canon EOS 550D

Canon has introduced a new SLR camera in the entry segment that offers an 18 megapixel sensor and Full HD video recording. It also announced several models of compact Ixus and PowerShot ranges.

The Canon EOS 550D comes to the market boasting an APS- C sensor of 18 megapixels, the same as the professional EOS 7D and a Digic 4 processor. In addition, after the criticism of the rate of video recording previous models, Canon offers the possibility to record Full HD 1920 x 1080p at 24, 25 or 30 fps, standing on this point above upper range models. If the resolution is lowered to 720p, it can record at 50 and 60 fps.

In EOS 550D can be used up to 6400 ISO sensitivity up to 12800 or forced, and has a maximum ISO limitation when set in automatic mode, allowing thus control the amount of noise.

The focusing system is nine points, with the central cross and can shoot bursts at 3.7 frames per second (fps). In addition to the resolution, the 550D has inherited from the 7D iFCL measurement system.

In the video recording mode the camera has ability to focus and exposure settings and opens a new way of Video Clip in which records only the center sensor , a box of 640 x 480 pixels , which gets lower resolution, but an increase equivalent to a 7x digital zoom .

Four new compact

Furthermore, Canon has introduced three new cameras Ixus: 105, 130 and 210 and the new PowerShot SX210 IS. The SX210 IS features a 14x wide zoom lens equivalent to 28-392 mm, a 14.1- megapixel sensor and 3 inch screen.

The Ixus 210 has a metal casing that houses a sensor of the same resolution and a target of 24-120 mm (5x), plus a touch screen 3.5 ” from which you can control the focus point just a touch of a finger.

Finally, the Ixus 105 and 130 have 28-112 mm objectives (4x) and resolutions of 12.1 and 14.1 Megapixels respectively. The Model 130 on the Canon Ixus thinner which is manufactured with a thickness of only 17.8 mm.
