The death of eight teenagers occurred in the last three months and related to an Internet gambling has caused alarm in Argentina, fearing that such deaths would increase to the local media reported today.

Local authorities Rosario de la Frontera in the province of Salta, about 600 thousand kilometers from Buenos Aires, said that in the last three months eight children died from asphyxiation caused by them.

The main line of research points to “Shocking Game” or “Game of Death“, which through the Internet invites users to self-asphyxiation and resist as much time as possible without oxygen, to pass out, causing a sensation called euphoria.

Salta police chief, Gabriel Escalante, explained that teenagers who died were between 13 and 17 years and who were found hanged in ties, scarves or ropes at home.

He added that it is investigating whether the youths were encouraged by someone else, although he acknowledged that the tracks are rather scarce.

He also ruled that the deaths have been caused by a ritual because each has distinctive signs, as the material used to cause suffocation.

The alarm is such that the provincial government and organized a Crisis Committee, as director of a school where three victims had already confessed his fear that there is “a perverse mind” that is inducing adolescents.

“It’s a social problem that has overwhelmed us, the kids do not want to talk and parents are scared,” said Maria Luis Leon, director of the School of Commerce.
