The editors of Italian Wired edition has been nominated of Nobel Peace Prize for internet because of his contribution to dialogue, debate and consensus in the world.

The Nobel Peace Prize is not only granted to individuals but also organizations and institutions such as the Red Cross, Doctors without Borders, etc.

Still, it is surprising that a system such as the Internet has been nominated for the award.

The question arises of who would receive the award on behalf of the Internet. According to Wired, an obvious candidate would be ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers or Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers.

According Wired Italy, The Internet deserves the award for his contribution to dialogue, debate and consensus in the world.

The nomination has been endorsed by the likes of Shirin Abadi, Iranian lawyer who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2003, and Nicholas Negroponte.
