The Japanese company Nintendo released a new version of its DS handheld device that lets you play and watch videos in 3D without glasses, in an effort to revitalize demand through its competition with Microsoft and Sony.

The device, presented at the E3 video game conference in Los Angeles, has two screens, a touch-and three built-in cameras that allow the machine to take digital photos in 3D.

The company did not want to advance the date or price at which the device goes on sale, although he had hinted that its introduction would occur in March 2011.

The president of Nintendo America, Reggie Fils-Aime, tried to dispel the perception that sales of the Nintendo Wii were loosening, and the console, a pioneer in motion sensing games through a versatile command-has lost luster and gained momentum rival platforms.

Calling these ideas of “misperceptions,” Fils-Aime said that in the 43 months he has been in the market has sold more software for the Wii than any other platform in the same period.

The filing comes a month after Nintendo estimated a second consecutive year of falling profits smaller sales of its Wii console.

Nintendo showed a strong demand for the Wii and the DS for three consecutive years of record earnings through March 2009.

But growth slowed last year after Sony and Microsoft lowered prices of their consoles and software to increase their bids.

On the other hand, increased competition from Apple’s iPhone, other smartphones and social networks are beginning to pose a threat to nintendo ds 3d model, according to analysts.
